With all the texts, tweets, and online chat sessions, “real world” businesses like lemonade stands are almost a forgotten tradition. Be a positive influence. Vishal Gupta is an assistant professor of strategy at Binghamton University who studies gender stereotypes and entrepreneurship. He conducted a study among men and women who initially expressed an equal interest in entrepreneurship. However, after exposing the females to biased literature stereotyping the “reality” of entrepreneurship as one that is better suited for males, the women lowered their reported interest in pursuing entrepreneurship as a lifestyle. Gupta says, “Changing the way entrepreneurship is discussed starts not only with reaching young people, but presenting it as an option for men and women.”
It represents your roots. Aristotle said that we do not understand a thing until we see it growing from its very beginning. Regardless of your level of success today, your own entrepreneurial dream began with little more than a simple desire to accomplish something. Pay homage to your own entrepreneurial roots and support lemonade stands. The person who truly benefits from your visit might be you.
